Word of the Day: Comfort
Today marked the return of my zafu into practice! For those of you who may not know, a zafu is a pillow used in yoga as a meditation or stretch tool. We had to use them in acting school and mine had been accruing dust in my closet–until today.
I got called in for a morning shift tomorrow (meaning I have to be in the office at 3:40 AM) and my afternoon got frittered away with errands and obligations, which meant I had to do something relaxing and go. to. bed.
So I joined a 10-day free trial of YogaGlo, an online yoga subscription series that my friend Hannah swears by. It’s kind of cool–first you choose a class based on your goal: body, heart or mind, and then can filter it by length, level, type of yoga, etc. I chose a class entitled Release, Relax & Rejuvenate. It was mostly lying down and breathing in some sort of yoga pose, and not gonna lie, I was incredibly bored. Definitely not my thing.
But at the end of the class, the teacher said (like a toast) “To the gift of this time. Congratulations on having taken it.”
I’m happy to figure out that one subconscious reason I may have chose yoga as my 90 day journey is because “yoga” can mean so many things. It can be sweaty, stressful or simply being. All make you a better person, and so while I may not love a certain day, it’s making me more in tune with myself.
