Today I did a class I’ve been wanting to do for a longtime– a YogaGlo class called Open Shoulders, Strengthen Core. It was exactly what it sounds like and just what I needed. It challenged my practice in a new way, and reminded me of the yoga classes I really love. Plus my shoulders felt great all day! I’m inspired for tomorrow already 🙂
Bad news: I haven’t been blogging every day like I meant to.
Good news: I have done yoga everyday! Which is far more important, in my book.
My practices haven’t been as long as I’ve anticipated, but I’ve noticed even doing 10 minutes consistently makes such a difference. Additionally, every day I did something a little different (twisting practice one day, meditation the other), and each class sincerely benefitted me.
My goals from here on out (the last 45 days of this challenge) are to do yoga longer on certain days. Starting tomorrow I’m going to pick out my YogaGlo classes in advance and schedule them on my calendar as such, like what I do with my weekly classes at my gym. Because if I pencil in an hour long class, I’ll actually do it.
Two weeks until my 10k. Six until this challenge is over, but let’s be real, it’s now become a daily part of my life. And that is amazing.
This morning I went to my weekly Power Yoga class, and it started with a bit of chaos. I was a little late to class, and overall, I just felt weak. Until the end.
I was able to do the straightest shoulder stand I’ve ever done! It was a great way to end a class in which I felt “Blah” until then. It was a reminder that progress comes with practice, and I will most definitely be keeping it up.
Today I did my kickboxing class and followed it up with a 45 minute class called “Stand Tall.” It was all about standing poses. Honestly at some points, I was bored beyond measure, but near the end of the class, I could feel a definite energy shift, especially around my heart chakra. It was great balance work, and I’m sore now, which is a good feeling 🙂
I’m glad I did a 45 minute class…I want to prove to myself that I can do a class longer than 30 minutes when I’m at home. Tomorrow I plan on waking up early to do a full hour(!). More on that in eight hours….time for bed.
I started my day with my favorite kickboxing class, which usually makes me feel like such a boss. But today, I don’t know if it’s because I was tired or what was dogging me mentally, but I felt weak.
Then I came home and made myself do core-strength yoga videos because again, I felt weak. But anyway, back to my yoga experience: as I finished the video, I realized that the only person thinking I was weak was me. My kickboxing teacher kept saying how awesome we were–and I did push myself to my limits–and the yoga video instructors were all about the process, not the results.
I am the only person judging me, and while it’s not easy for me to stop, I can make it part of my practice to try. Isn’t that what yoga is all about?
Videos of the Day: I did two, both from PsycheTruth, because I couldn’t find a 30-min core strength video. One was 20 minutes and the other was 10. And I loved the second instructor. Will definitely be going back to her!
